Wildlife Recovery Australia

We’re collaborating with Australia’s leading wildlife veterinarians, to rescue wildlife from immediate life-threatening situations.

Wildlife Recovery Australia (WRA) is a joint venture between Odonata and Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital.

WRA specialise in the integration of mobile wildlife hospitals with predator-proof sanctuaries to rescue and restore wildlife and endangered species across Australia.

There are only a handful of wildlife hospitals in Australia and the burden of helping our injured wildlife often falls upon local vets. While vets willingly give their time freely every day, they lack the specialist skills, resources and facilities to meet the demand.

Mobile wildlife hospitals shoulder the burden of local vets in at-risk areas and provide a ready and reactive asset to support wildlife recovery in emergencies. By combining our mobile wildlife hospitals with our sanctuaries, we can release animals into predator-proof environments for them to recover (and build their strength for eventual release into the wild) and create efficiencies in wildlife management.

In 2020, WRA established and launched the Byron Bay Mobile Wildlife Hospital. This project serves as an exemplar which will be refined and replicated across the country.
